Sometimes we let our negative thoughts control us and we end up feeling stressed day after day. We worry more than we smile. We forget to truly live life and enjoy everything it has to offer. Don’t let life pass you by. Take charge of your mind and live. Here are 10 things to remember when you feel stressed:


1) What others think is not important

People may have a lot to say about your situation. They’re probably concerned about you and don’t mean any harm, but you can’t let their words get to you. Try to remind yourself that what other people think about you is not important right now.

2) You’re allowed to be yourself

You don’t have to do what others do or want you to do. As long as you don’t hurt others or take advantage of your family and friends, you have the right to be yourself. You are entitled to do what makes you happy. You only have one life to live.

3) It’s okay to give yourself some space to breathe

If you need to get away, do it. Travel and go soul searching if you think it might help. If you can’t go far, then do something that makes you happy. Pamper yourself with a long massage. Enjoy a good book at your favourite café. Everyone needs some ‘me time’ from time to time.


4) It’s also okay to do what is best for you

You are the only one who knows what feels right for you. You don’t need to force yourself to do what others expect of you. If you need to take a break, go for it. If you think you need to leave your current situation, move.

5) You are strong enough

Always remember that you can get what you want and you have what it takes to succeed. Negative self-talk can seriously damage your self-esteem. Never doubt your own abilities and stop criticising yourself. Let go of your fears and silence your inner critic.

6) Your mistakes don’t define who you are

Everyone makes mistakes. Don’t punish yourself by thinking about what you’ve done wrong over and over again. It feeds anxiety and depression. Learn to let go. Forgive yourself and allow yourself to start new. You deserve a second chance.

Stop beating yourself up for the things you cannot change. Instead of wasting your energy on the past, focus on all the things you can do from now onwards. It is not impossible to start with a clean slate. You can create the life you’ve always wanted and be the person you’ve always wanted to be.
