Sometimes we unconsciously let “being busy” take control of our lives. We often use work, family, and the lack of time as an excuse not to live life to the fullest. Like soulless beings, we tend to go through life like a zombie and repeat the same routine day after day. We would find ourselves feeling exhausted at end of the day and we depend on the weekends to stay sane. But to what end?
Life doesn’t have to be a constant chore or a drag. It can be a wonderful journey. Instead of making things sound more complicated than it actually is, we should seize the moment and make the most of what we have.
Here’s 10 ways to fall in love with life again.
1.Get out of the rat race
There really is no finish line. Sure, it’s great to have a nicer car or a bigger house. But it’s an endless cycle and someday, you will regret sacrificing time with your loved ones for success. You have to find a balance and learn to prioritize. Materialism doesn’t guarantee long-term happiness.
2.Love yourself first
It’s okay to pamper yourself. Go for a body massage. Buy the shoes you’ve been eyeing. Have that dessert. Rewarding yourself is not a crime. You deserve to spoil yourself once in a while. It’s important to take care of yourself and make your happiness a priority.
3.Be around positive people
Don’t let people who constantly complain or try to rain on your parade drag you down. You don’t need negative influences in your life. Instead, try spending more time with like-minded people who can inspire and motivate you.
4.Enjoy the little things
With endless commitments and responsibilities, we sometimes forget to do the things that make us happy. The simplest things in life can bring us enormous joy. Whether it’s taking a long walk in the park or enjoying your favourite music, you need to start doing the things that you love again.
5.Let go of the things you can’t control
Worrying all the time will not get you anywhere. Stop hanging on to the past or thinking about the future. Focus on what’s right in front of you. Take things one step at a time and the rest will work itself out. Try to relax and live in the moment.
6.Be grateful to be alive
Time seems to go by more quickly as we get older, yet sometimes we take life for granted anyway. Always remind yourself that it’s a privilege to be alive. You only have one life to live, so make the most of it. Sometimes there is no second chance. Live each day as if it was your last!
7.Stop and smell the roses
Enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Life really is beautiful if you take the time to truly see it. You don’t need to be on vacation to admire the blue sky or appreciate a soothing rainy day. Be grateful and count your blessings just by noticing the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
8.Don’t be too hard on yourself
Regrets. Thinking you’re not good enough. Whatever negative thoughts you have about yourself, let it go. Be kinder to yourself and give yourself some credit for coming this far. Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Forgive yourself and focus on what you can do next instead.
9.Learn something new
Picking up a new hobby or challenge can make life more interesting and fun. Take up Spanish, scuba diving or surfing. Broaden your horizons. Face your fears. Learning what you love, desire or need will make you fall in love with life all over again.
10.Don’t put things off
Procrastination can be dangerous if we let it control us. Do the things that you’ve always wanted to do or have been putting off for a long time. You don’t have to do everything at once, just start somewhere. Once you do, you will eventually cross the other things off your list too.
William Wallace once said, “Every man dies. Not every man lives.” Choose to live. Life will not wait for us. It’s now or never!
